Is your autobody shop exempt?
If you are the owner or operator of a mobile or stationary autobody shop, there is a new tool available to help you determine if you may qualify for an exemption to EPA’s HHHHHH (6H) regulation.
The 6H regulation applies to surface coating operations that involve the spray application of coatings that contain compounds of chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), or cadmium (Cd). However, if you are a collision repair shop that applies spray coating to motor vehicles and motor equipment, you may be fall under an exemption.
To find out if you qualify for the exemption click the link below and answer a few very short questions. The results will tell if you should file a petition for an exemption for your facility under CFR Title 40 Part 63 Subpart HHHHHH.
Below are the addresses to send the petition, depending on your location, if you qualify for an exemption.
