Radon Control:

EPA Radon Zones for Nevada: The purpose of this map is to assist National, State, and local organizations to target their resources and to implement radon-resistant building codes. This map is not intended to be used to determine if a home in a given zone should be tested for radon. Homes with elevated levels of radon have been found in all three zones. All homes should be tested regardless of geographic location.

Radon Control Methods This appendix contains requirements for new construction in jurisdictions where radon-resistance construction is required.

Reducing Radon When Building a New Home
There are effective and cost-efficient steps to take during the initial construction of a home that significantly reduce the potential for high levels of radon. Many builders routinely include these features in some of their homes.

Green Seal Certified Windows and Doors

Indoor Air Quality Emission Simulation Tool (IA-QUEST) Version 1.1: The software consists of two parts: database and simulation. The database provides information regarding the emission (“off-gassing”) of 90 “Target” volatile organic compounds (VOCs), “Abundant” VOCs and TVOC (total VOC) from 69 building materials commonly used in Canada.

Ventilation-related Standards: Currently ASHRAE Standard 62 on Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality is being revised. Click here to view a power point presentation given by Max Sherman on ASHRAE Standard 62
