EPA Resource Conservation – Construction & Demolition Materials:
Reducing and recycling C&D materials conserves landfill space, reduces the environmental impact of producing new materials, creates jobs, and can reduce overall building project expenses through avoided purchase/disposal costs.
EPA Construction Initiative:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Construction Initiative (CI) is a collaborative, public-private sector effort to increase the recycling and reuse of industrial materials in building and transportation construction projects across the nation.
Recycling C&D Wastes:
Produced for architects, engineers, specification writers, and contractors who have an interest in and understand the goals of job site recycling, but are not familiar with its practicalities. Without this familiarity, it’s difficult to piece together how recycling works into overall project management, or to counter the concerns of those who object to job site recycling on the basis of cost, complexity, unreliability, or other factors. This document is intended to provide the information to understand and address those objections, and lay the foundation for successful recycling from any new construction, renovation or demolition project.
C&D Recycling Toolkit for Contractors:
The contractor’s toolkit includes a number of tools developed by CIWMB to assist contractors working to divert waste from job sites. These tools include specifications, corporate best management practices, planning tools, and other resources.
Optimizing Diversion Rates:
Tools and assistance needed to help you to obtain the highest diversion rates possible on your construction, demolition and deconstruction projects. Tools available include jobsite waste guidelines, a waste management plan template, sample waste recycling specifications, directory of local construction waste recyclers and more.
Calculating C&D Recycling Costs:
A tool to help contractors calculate recycling costs. It may be easier and less expensive to divert your jobsite waste from the landfill than to dispose of it. Sending materials for reuse often doesn’t cost a contractor anything and recycling fees are generally lower than disposal fees.
National Gypsum Co. Wallboard Project Calculator:
Use this calculator to estimate the amount of National Gypsum products you will need to complete your project. Select your room dimensions in feet, and hit the “calculate” button to get your estimate for a room with 8′ high ceilings.
WAste Reduction Model (WARM):
WARM was developed for waste managers. WARM calculates the benefits of alternative end-of-life waste management decisionsincluding Greenhouse gas reduction potential.
