{"id":3999,"date":"2011-08-05T11:42:57","date_gmt":"2011-08-05T18:42:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unrbep.org\/?p=3999"},"modified":"2011-08-05T11:42:57","modified_gmt":"2011-08-05T18:42:57","slug":"epa-releases-draft-policy-for-ensuring-scientific-integrity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unrbep.org\/dealerportal\/epa-releases-draft-policy-for-ensuring-scientific-integrity\/","title":{"rendered":"EPA Releases Draft Policy for Ensuring Scientific Integrity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Agency seeking public comment <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WASHINGTON \u2013 <\/strong>The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today is releasing its draft Scientific Integrity Policy for public comment.\u00a0 The draft policy reflects the Obama Administration\u2019s commitment to the ethical standards and transparency necessary for ensuring the highest quality science.<\/p>\n<p>The draft Scientific Integrity Policy was developed in response to a December 2010 memorandum from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.\u00a0 The memorandum charged federal agencies to develop policies in four areas: foundations of scientific integrity in government, public communications, use of federal advisory committees, and professional development of government scientists and engineers.<\/p>\n<p>EPA\u2019s draft Scientific Integrity Policy was developed by an ad hoc workgroup consisting of senior staff and scientists from the agency\u2019s programs and regions.\u00a0 The draft policy addresses the promotion of scientific ethical standards, including quality standards; communications with the public; the use of advisory committees and peer review; and professional development, as well as the roles and responsibilities of a new Scientific Integrity Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Public comments will be taken through September 6.<\/p>\n<p>EPA\u2019s draft Scientific Integrity Policy is available at: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epa.gov\/osa\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.epa.gov\/osa<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agency seeking public comment WASHINGTON \u2013 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today is releasing its draft Scientific Integrity Policy for public comment.\u00a0 The draft policy reflects the Obama Administration\u2019s commitment to the ethical standards and transparency necessary for ensuring the highest quality science.
