Who is WSPPN?
Established in 1997 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, The Western Sustainability and Pollution Prevention Network (WSPPNTM) is a strategic alliance involving local, state, federal and tribal pollution prevention (P2) programs throughout EPA Region 9, including California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, the Tribal Lands and the Trust Territories of Guam and American Samoa, to improve communication and information dissemination among network members to maximize efficiency of P2 implementation. WSPPN is a proud member of the Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange (P2RxTM), a national network of eight centers providing pollution prevention information, networking opportunities and other services to States, local governments and technical assistance providers in their region.
Recognized as one of the best P2 conferences in the country, WSPPN puts on an annual conference for the western states that satisfied local, regional and national environmental and health priorities. This year’s WSPPN 2012 Conference is taking place in Sacramento on May 17th and 18th and will focus on sustainability and managin household hazardous waste, used oil management, green chemistry, energy and green house gas reduction among other topics.
Some of the informational resources provided on the WSPPN website are topic hubs, a web-based resource for quality pollution prevention information and expertise in specific topics, programs directory containing information about agencies and programs for the western states, extensive P2 library, webinar archive, and information about green businesses and Fleets.
