Green Valley Grocery
The Green Valley Grocery-which includes a convenience store, Shell filling station and car wash-recently converted to a state of the art “green store”. The Sure Bet Program assisted with $3,231 in incentives to upgrade lighting and the building and fuel station canopy.
At the fuel canopy, Green Valley removed 24 fixtures of 235W metal halide lamps and replaced them with 24 115W LED fixtures. LEDs successfully “spotlight” individual pumps, which provides the look of more light while using less energy. At the storefront, Green Valley removed almost 20 existing inefficient fixtures (metal halide and T12 fluorescents) and replaced them with just 8 60W LED fixtures. The store is now saving 64,627 kWh annually. That’s a savings of about $9,000 per year.
The Orleans Marquee Sign
When The Orleans casino sought to upgrade its marquee and lower its energy use with the latest in LED technology, the Sure Bet Program stepped in with $100,000 in incentives to help.
Prior to the retrofit, the sign used more than 4 million kWh per year that cost the owners almost $320,000 annually, and much more in lamp replacement materials and labor. The new sign, which is programmable and managed through a computer interface, provides new benefits:
- 80% reduction in annual electricity use and costs
- Substantial reduction in lamp replacement and maintenance costs
- Improved brightness, color and eye-appeal
- Great flexibility in graphics and messaging
