Josh F.W. Cook Appointed US EPA Regional Administrator for Region 9

On March 18th, US EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced that Josh F.W. Cook will be the new EPA Regional Administrator for the Pacific Southwest Region (Region 9). Before joining the EPA, Regional Administrator Cook was an Advisor to the Tribal Council of the Mooretown Rancheria of Concow Maidu Indians and served as Chief of Staff to the Minority Caucus in the California Legislature. EPA Reconsiders Multiple National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it will reconsider multiple National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPs) affecting various industrial sectors. During this review, the EPA is considering a two-year compliance exemption for affected facilities via Section 112(i)(4) of the Clean Air Act. The review will initially focus on industries such as iron and steel manufacturing, rubber tire manufacturing, synthetic organic chemical production, commercial sterilizers, lime manufacturing, coke ovens, copper smelting, and taconite ore processing. Reminder: e-Manifest Requirements for Small and Large Quantity Hazardous Waste Generators

Large and small quantity generators are required to register and maintain an account as an e-Manifest user in RCRAInfo with Site Manager or e-Manifest Certifier permissions to meet the regulatory changes of the final Third Rule. Activities to be conducted through RCRAInfo include: Registering as an industry user can be done here.  For assistance with registration, contact Kat Olson at 775-834-3674 or katolson@unr.edu.  Additionally, NDEP’s webpage on the RCRAInfo Software contains step by step instructions for registration and provides details on the Site Manager permissions.
