EPA Announces Anaerobic Digestion Grant Opportunity for Food Waste Management Projects

Informational Webinar August 2nd

If you are a local, Tribal or state organization or you are a non-profit school or hospital addressing food waste using anaerobic digestion (AD), your organization may be eligible for a grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  The US EPA anticipates awarding up to $2 million in total anaerobic digestion funding, with individual project funding ranging from $50,000-$200,000.

Projects must develop new capacity or expand existing AD capacity for processing food waste; demonstrate solutions and/or approaches for increasing food waste AD utilization that is replicable; or support state, Tribal, and/or local government programs that seek to use AD to increase food waste diversion rates.

The grant application period closes on October 7, 2021. For more information, review the grant solicitation on grants.gov and visit EPA’s sustainable management of food website
