EPA Reconsiders Multiple National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it will reconsider multiple National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPs) affecting various industrial sectors. During this review, the EPA is considering a two-year compliance exemption for affected facilities via Section 112(i)(4) of the Clean Air Act.

The review will initially focus on industries such as iron and steel manufacturing, rubber tire manufacturing, synthetic organic chemical production, commercial sterilizers, lime manufacturing, coke ovens, copper smelting, and taconite ore processing. The EPA may also assess additional NESHAPs and New Source Performance Standards for potential reconsideration.

This announcement aligns with broader regulatory changes aimed at modifying environmental regulations while maintaining pollution control measures. You can read more about this action here.
