The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) tracks the management of certain toxic chemicals that may pose a threat to human health and the environment. Facilities in different industry sectors must report annually how much of each chemical is released to the environment and/or managed through recycling, energy recovery and treatment. EPA Finalizes Amendments to Air Toxic Standards for Paint Stripping & Miscellaneous Surface Coating Operations

On November 1, 2022, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized amendments to the 2008 National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for Paint Stripping and Miscellaneous Surface Coating Operations at Area Sources. Following a technology review conducted under the Clean Air Act, EPA determined that there are no cost-effective developments that would further reduce air toxics so the agency is not amending existing emissions standards based on the technology review. EPA to Expand Environmental Performance Standard and Ecolabel Recommendations for Federal Purchasing

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched a new process to add additional standards and ecolabels to the Environmentally Preferable Purchasing program’s Recommendations of Specifications, Standards, and Ecolabels for Federal Purchasing. The expansion includes standards and ecolabels that address PFAS, embodied carbon, and other priorities. EPA encourages managers of standards development organizations, ecolabel programs and similar organizations to apply for potential assessment and inclusion in the Recommendations.
