EPA to Expand Environmental Performance Standard and Ecolabel Recommendations for Federal Purchasing

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched a new process to add additional standards and ecolabels to the Environmentally Preferable Purchasing program’s Recommendations of Specifications, Standards, and Ecolabels for Federal Purchasing. The expansion includes standards and ecolabels that address PFAS, embodied carbon, and other priorities. EPA encourages managers of standards development organizations, ecolabel programs and similar organizations to apply for potential assessment and inclusion in the Recommendations. More Funds for Clean School Bus Program Rebates

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced it would nearly double the funding awarded for clean school buses this year following increased demand for the 2022 Clean School Bus Rebates. In May, EPA had announced the availability of $500 million, but given overwhelming demand from school districts across the country, including in low-income communities, Tribal nations, and territories, EPA is nearly doubling the amount of funding that will be awarded to $965 million.The current round of funding is closed …

Requirements Change for The Use Of Emergency Engines

On August 10th the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a final rule which removes the provision for using emergency engines for demand response. Previously, a Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engine (RICE) could operate for up to 100 hours for non-emergency situations and these 100 hours could be used for emergency demand response.
